Forward brakes

Replacement of brake shoes

Details of brake system are shown on an illustration. It is necessary to be guided by it at the subsequent works. It is necessary to take into consideration differences of two executions of supports on which it is specified illustrations. Executions of brake supports are known under designations of "AD" and "CL". On both parties of the car it is necessary to replace brake shoes together.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift a forward part of the car.
  2. Remove wheels.
  3. On inside of a support remove the bolt shown on an illustration and cast away all support up.
  4. Remove from a support directing plates from above and from below, internal and external brake shoes. For removal of directing plates insert a screw-driver.
After removal of the shown bolt it is possible to cast away a support up. To fix a support a wire piece (see an illustration).
  1. After removal of brake shoes it is impossible to press a brake pedal, the piston otherwise will jump out. Replace brake shoes, if thickness of a material of a brake overlay of 2.0 mm. Never replace only one block and do not rearrange brake shoes on the one hand on another. On an illustration it is shown below, the thickness of a block is measured in what place. Brake shoes for carburetor models have thickness of 10 mm, blocks for injector models have thickness of 11 mm. From these sizes it is possible to define the current resource of a block.

  1. Repair kits of brake shoes include details which all should be used at installation. Clear supports brake liquid or alcohol. Never use for this purpose gasoline. Check, that laying of pistons reliably condensed. Check a brake disk on existence of deep grooves which are caused by worn-out blocks. Measure thickness of brake disks by a micrometer, as is shown in an illustration below. Disks of carburetor models have minimum admissible thickness of 18 mm, brake disks of injector models (ventilated) have thickness of 20 mm. If thickness less than the specified values, it is necessary to replace them.

  1. It is possible to replace only one disk, but replacement of both disks most likely is required. Installation of brake shoes is carried out in return sequence, however it is necessary to consider the next moments. On an illustration support elements and also as the support cylinder on a wire is suspended below are shown:

  1. Insert an internal block with an intermediate plate, delay a support outside and insert an external block with an intermediate plate.
  2. Insert directing plates of brake shoes.
  3. Untie a wire and lower the support cylinder down, without having damaged thus inserted brake shoes.
  4. Insert bolts (see an illustration) and tighten with 2.0 moments of an inhaling specified illustrations. The inhaling moments for two executions of supports differ a little.
  5. After installation several times press a pedal of a brake and check, whether air got into system. If air got to system, pump over it (The section Pumping of brakes).

Repair of a support of a brake

  1. Remove brake shoes.
  2. Unscrew the brake pipeline from a support. It is connected by means of a hollow bolt with two copper washers. Always it is necessary to replace washers. Stop up a support opening that liquid could not follow. Also paste a little sticky tape round hose connection that dirt did not get to a hose.
  3. Weaken both bolts of a support on inside.
  4. Take out a support. The support can be removed together with brake shoes which act in film then as it is described above. If it is required to remove a brake disk, it can be unscrewed from a nave. The support can be disassembled as follows, being guided by an illustration:

  1. Unscrew from a support a brake hose.
  2. Carefully take out a dustproof ring from a cylinder opening by means of a screw-driver.
  3. Now it is necessary to squeeze out the piston of a support opening. The compressed air is for this purpose used. It is best of all to take a support on a gas station to squeeze out the piston. The air pipe is connected to a branch pipe of a brake hose in the place shown on an illustration. Enclose wooden whetstone in support capture that the piston could not come across cylinder metal.

  1. Remove piston laying from a cylinder groove with a stupid subject.
  2. Check cylinder inside on formation of grooves or other damages. If those are available, it is necessary to replace all cylinder. Easy roughnesses can be maleficiated by a small emery paper. The surface of sliding of the piston is processed in a special way and cannot be ground by an emery paper. Laying and a dustproof ring of the piston should be replaced.
  3. If both directing fingers or the related cuffs have unsatisfactory appearance, it is possible to replace them. Grease new fingers with greasing for brakes.
  4. At assembly cover all internal details with brake liquid or special greasing and then collect a support as follows:
  5. Insert into a cylinder groove laying.
  6. Grease a dustproof ring with greasing or brake liquid and establish it on the piston.
  7. Insert the piston into an opening and press a dustproof ring into a cylinder groove. The piston should be turned outside of specified illustrations the party.
  8. Grease both directing fingers with the recommended brake greasing for disk brakes, establish cuffs and insert both fingers.
  9. Installation of a support is carried out in return to sequence removal. Tighten bolts with shown on an illustration for the corresponding execution by the inhaling moments. If the holder of a support unscrewed, tighten bolts with effort of 72-97 N • m. Pump over brake system (The section Pumping of brakes).

Brake disks

Brake disks act in film together with a nave. These works were already described in the Section "Take out a support...". Then remove a brake disk from a nave and to make the following checks:

  1. Measure thickness of a brake disk and check, that anywhere the difference on thickness did not exceed 0.07 mm (see an illustration). If there are suspicions that the disk is deformed, it is possible to establish it again with a nave on a rotary fist. Before check adjust nave bearings.
  2. Establish on a rotary fist the tsiferblatny indicator (illustration) and rest measuring щуп about external edge of a brake disk. Slowly turn a brake disk and take readings of the device. If value exceeds 0.07 mm, it is possible to assume that the disk is deformed. Installation of a nave and a brake disk was already described in Head the Suspension bracket and a steering. Tighten a nave and wheel nut when the car will stand on the earth.
